1.Draw quantitative freebody diagrams (showing the magnitude of each force and using agent-object notation) for the motion of an elevator.
2.Calculate the mass of person in kg.
3.Calculate the net force on the person from your force diagram.
4.Calculate the acceleration of the person using Newton's 2nd Law.
5. Explain in terms of forces and acceleration the apparent weight changes when riding an elevator.
6. Extensions include understanding the acceleration of a falling apple in an accelerating elevator to use in kinematics equations and how to determine displacement from a velocity vs time graph.
